Why Buy A G10 Watch Strap?

There are many reasons to choose this style, including:

Durability: G10 straps are made of tough materials that can withstand wear and tear, water, and dirt. They are also easy to clean and maintain, unlike some leather or metal straps.

Versatility: G10 bands come in a variety of colours, patterns, and sizes, so you can easily find one that suits your style and personality. You can also swap them in seconds, without any tools, and change the look of your watch whenever you want.

Comfort: The best G10 straps are lightweight, breathable, and adjustable, so they fit snugly and comfortably on your wrist. They also prevent the metal case of your watch from touching your skin, which can cause irritation or allergies for some people.

Affordability: G10 straps are one of the most affordable watch straps on the market, so you can get more than one and have fun mixing and matching them with your watch collection.

FAQs On The G10 Watch Strap Range

What is the history of the G10 watch strap?

The G10 watch strap originated in the British Military, and was named after the G10 requisition form that soldiers needed to complete in order to obtain one. The straps were designed to be durable and practical in order to suit military-issued watches, ensuring comfort and that they stayed on the wrist during extreme outdoor conditions and activities.

This strap became known as the NATO strap in later years, with different regiments using different colours and designs, but keeping the same practical elements.

Now, the straps are not just worn for military uses, but are a fashionable and practical watch strap worn by everyone.

What width is a G10 watch strap?

A G10 watch strap was originally 20mm wide, though ours now come in widths of 16mm, 18mm and 22mm also, to match different watch types and lug widths.

The width of the strap depends entirely on the lug width of the watch that it is being attached to, and whilst 18, 20 and 22mm are the most common widths of G10 strap, other variations do exist too.

Do NATO straps damage watches?

No, NATO straps shouldn’t damage watches that they are worn with, as long as they are properly maintained. It is possible that dirt trapped under the strap can cause a slight bit of damage or scratching to the back of the watch, or that a too tight strap may wear the lugs over time.

This can be avoided by properly cleaning the strap regularly to remove any dirt and to check for scratches on the watch face, and by ensuring that they fit properly to avoid damage to the lugs.

Why do NATO G10 straps have two straps?

NATO G10 straps have two straps for extra durability and security whilst being worn on the wrist. The second strap ensures that if a spring bar breaks, the watch stays securely on your wrist.

The second strap also keeps it in position better on the wrist, preventing it from sliding around or moving whilst being worn.
